I Timothy 1:8-11

I Timothy 1:8-11

As we complete this first section of Paul's first pastoral epistle, I find it quite amazing that the first thing he addresses is the word of God and good doctrine. We can never overstate the importance of God's word.

We are stewards of God's word. The doctrines contained in God's word, the doctrine of the gospel has been committed to our trust. We must teach God's word without apology, without wavering and with a conviction that comes from living in obedience to God's word regardless of cost or consequence.

We will stand before Christ at the bema seat and give an answer for how we taught His word. This should cause us to be sober. It should cause us to live in the fear of the Lord. It should motivate us to do all things to the glory of God

Chapter 1
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
